In Ecuador, the brothers Diego and Elías Torres Saldaña announced the launch of their own firm —Torres Saldaña Abogados— based in Cuenca, the third largest city in Ecuador and specializing in public law and economic criminal law.
The Torres Saldaña brothers work as partners in the law firm they have just set up. The firm pays tribute to Diego Torres Borja, father of the partners, who began his professional practice in 1978 and specialized in corporate, notarial, banking, mercantile and commercial litigation matters.
Diego Torres Saldaña focuses on administrative law, public contracting, insurance, and government auditing and control. He has experience in prevention of money laundering and anti-corruption and punitive and disciplinary law. He has worked for the public sector and in firms. Since 2018 he has been practicing as an independent lawyer. Previously, he worked as a senior lawyer at the Baclaw – Barrera Andrade Abogados law firm, with a focus on arbitration and banking law.
Elías Torres Saldaña concentrates his practice in criminal law, constitutional law, human rights and corruption studies. He has been trained in compliance, corporate governance and anti-corruption. He was an advisor to the Constitutional Court of Ecuador and an official of the State Attorney General's Office in Azuay.
Since 2019, he has been practicing as a consultant and trial lawyer in matters of economic criminal law and anti-corruption.
